Psya3 Aggression Predictions June 2015
Again – take my predictions with a pinch of salt – they are “guesstimates” based on probability and the assumption that AQA try not to repeat the same questions. This could of course be completely wrong too so don’t get mad if I’m wrong, these are merely to try guide you. Having said that my A2 record tends to be pretty good so lets hope that continues hey?
I find A2 in general tends to be easier to predict than AS and breaking down the specification table below we can see theres only a limited amount of possible essay questions. Again if you’re struggling with Psya3 and writing your model essays you can download my own A* essays for Psya3 aggression by clicking the image on the right. These actually got me 100 UMS in my own exam so are tried and tested.
Below we have a table taken from the specification that breaks down the chapters you need to know within this topic and these are then broken down into possible essay questions.
Once the possible questions are broken down we input the dates of questions into our predictions table below and suddenly we begin to see a pattern of what has and hasn’t appeared in a while:

In the last exam a broad question asking for social psychological theories for aggression came up which allowed us to use either SLT or Deindividuation. It’s possible they may specifiy one of the two this time however I can see there’s other questions which haven’t had a look in and on the balance of probability these two should be able to be discounted.
My Predictions For Psya3 Aggression June 2015
- Institutional aggression; Has not appeared as a big essay and I do think there is sufficient research for it. It last appeared in January 2012 which was 4 exam windows ago and it was only a 4 mark question. If it can be a full essay it’s one thats well over-due and one to keep an eye out for.
- Neural and hormonal explanations for aggression: Hasnt appeared since June 2011. It has come up as a full essay previously meaning it can definitely be a full essay again and I would brush up on this too.
- Evolutionary explanations of human aggression including infidelity & jealousy; Social psychological explanations came up after two exam windows and its been two since this last appeared so although not as overdue as the others it should also be revised.
- Group explanations for group displays of aggression: Hasnt appeared as a big essay since Jan 2012 and its only ever appeared once. When you have a big time-gap like that and only one appearance I would prepare for this one.
A word of warning..
If I was a betting man and short on time these would be the essays I would focus my attention on personally – but thats not to say you should ignore the others. I think if AQA wanted to be awkward then Genetic explanations for aggression could come up again; the reason I would say this is awkward is they have never asked a full essay after only 1 exam window opting to ask another one completely. It would therefore break their current pattern of questions and there is quite a few that are well over-due an appearance that they should try prioritise hopefully but thats not to say they will.
