AQA A2 Psychology Psya4 Media Psychology June 2014 Predictions
So we had the first Psya1 exam recently and the general feeling appears to be it was a good paper. The 12 marker was based on Eye Witness Testimony which was one of my predictions for an 8 marker so its a small victory. Some of my other predictions also came up im told in various forms so thats great to hear my predictions were helpful.
It just goes to show you never know what AQA may do and how they may design the questions so its always important to learn everything just to be safe.
Moving on to my next set of predictions we look at the Psya4 A2 Media Psychology topic and the possible questions that are overdue here. If your struggling with this topic and want to make revision easier and faster in the short time you have available – definitely check out my model essay answers for A2 Media Psychology for Psya4 – they have the answers that got me 100% in unit 4.
As always – if you find this helpful – be sure to like my facebook page here: www.facebook.com/aqapsychology
I give away free resources and revision materials from time to time on that page as well as post all the latest posts there too.
Right – on to my predictions;
Mr Predictions for Psya4 A2 Media Psychology June 2014 Possible Questions:
Look at the table below to see the list of all the possible questions and when each came up:
Based on this we can see when each question came up – the two questions highlighted in blue means it was a broad question that covered both those topics (research into intense fandom in June 2013). Looking at this theres an obvious list of candidates questions that have not come up since January 2012 and could make a possible appearance.
- Media Influences on antisocial behaviour
- The Negative effects of video games
- The elaboration likelihood Model (since June 2012)
- Psychological explanations for the attraction of celebrity
- Evolutionary explanations for the attraction of celebrity
These 5 are my running predictions for Psya4 Media Psychology. The questions highlighted in BOLD are my front-runners however. I can’t stress the importance of learning everything in this topic – If you look in the table above in the psya4 media psychology predictions table you will see “Media Influences into Pro-social behaviour” came up twice consecutively as a 10 mark question in June 2012 AND January 2013.
So AQA have no issue in asking questions back to back so my advice is if you really want to guarantee yourself a good mark – make sure you have a good handle on the entire Media Psychology topic rather than rely solely on these predictions.
Is there any way you can do predictions for Phobias and Addictions? It would help so much xx
Hey Zoe,
I Will try start doing predictions for all the other psya3 and psya4 subjects from tomorrow onwards! Sorry been quite busy recently but will try get some updates up soon.
Hey Saj,
Your predictions on aggression, gender and cognitive development really helped me on my psya3.
I was wondering, if you could post predictions for depression.
Thanks
Hi Saj, have you done predictions for depression and addictive behaviours? i can’t find them on the website.
Not yet – Depression is coming tomorrow morning so sit tight! the rest will follow shortly after one by one.
How many sections out of 5 do we have to know for example media influences on antisocial – there’s 5 little bits like desensitisation, justification, social learning etc, do we need to know all 5?
Hi Bethany,
It depends on the size of the question and marks attributed to it.
If its a 4 mark question it stands to reason writing about 2 in reasonable detail will score you the full 4 marks.
However if its an 8 mark question you may want to write about 3 in more detail or 4 in less. Its a tough one to say without having a question to refer to. If you memorise them all however and understand them you will be able to answer any question of any size – thats pretty much what I did.
Thank you, that makes sense :)
Hello,
You\’ve said one of the predicted questions is Psychological explanations for the attraction of celebrity. Do you mean social psychological? Or is there a separate psychological explanation. The specification only says social psychological and evolutionary explanations.
