PSYA1 AS Psychology May 2016 Predictions
Ok folks – The first of my predictions. This is for AS psychology retake students only who are sitting PSYA1 in May 2016. This is the last opportunity to sit this exam for retake students as the new specification has come into effect for students studying AS psychology from September 2016. Just so you’re aware; these predictions are NOT for new AS students who have started to learn the subject for the first time from September 2015 – a separate set of predictions will come out for this new spec.
Also – as I always say; do not rely on these predictions completely as they are merely to guide you towards what hasn’t appeared in a while – these are not definitely going to come up so use these predictions as a guide only.

My May 2016 PSYA1 Predictions
Looking at the table there is a few possible questions you need to brush up on as they are overdue. Here’s the ones I would focus on personally;
- The Working Memory Model
Hasn’t come up as a full 12 marker in a long-time. Didn’t even make an appearance as a smaller question the last exam window. Surely it’s about time it makes an appearance as as 12 marker now?
- Cultural variations in attachment
Appeared 2 exam windows ago as a 12 marker and hasn’t come up in any form since (not even a smaller question). This says to me it can show up in some form, if not a full essay then a smaller 6 marker like it did in January 2013.
- Disruption of attachment
A full 12 marker on either privation or institutionalisation hasn’t appeared in a long time (or ever for institutionalisation). I would brush up on these two possible essays as they can both be 12 markers (in my eyes Institutionalisation is more likely)
- The impact of daycare on social development (e.g. aggression or peer relations)
Came up as a 12 marker back in June 2012 and has since only ever appeared as 4 markers. This shows up one of two things; 1) It can be a full 12 marker and 2) it is well overdue as its been 4 exams since rearing its head.
- The Multi-Store Memory Model
If they wanted to throw you a curveball, this would be it. Hasn’t come up as a full 12 marker in ages but did make an appearance as a smaller question recently.
