Hi guys – Saj here,
I just wanted to say a massive good luck to you guys tomorrow if your sitting your AQA psychology exams tomorrow! (15th May 2017).
I know some students are retaking the old specification tomorrow (as well as the new spec AS) and this is their final chance to take these exams and improve their grades so I wanted to say a massive good luck to you guys as I know this is probably the second time you’re taking your AS exams again having been through the whole ordeal once already. I have a revision video below that breaks down revision techniques for AS students doing the old specification which I hope proves useful for you just for some last minute advice.
If you find it helpful please be sure to hit the Subscribe button and follow me on YouTube – I would love to have you guys follow me in my journey as I keep growing Loopa as well as see how you guys continue in your lives too beyond your psychology studies too – it would be great to stay in touch really in some form.
Revising for the old psychology specification (AS)
After this point you are probably aware that you cannot retake these old spec exams to improve your grades without having to study and take all the new spec exams from the beginning. The reason for this is the old spec and new spec are different syllabus and therefore once one syllabus has been phased out you cannot take exams from an old one and apply it to the new one to improve your grades – you need to basically study the new one from scratch to do this as a new student.
If you do need help for your AS old spec exams either for PSYA1 (paper 1) or for PSYA2 (paper 2) then you can download my model essay answer ebooks for both these exams. These cover all the possible essay questions you can be asked in both the exams and gives you the model essay answers students have been using to score phenomenal grades since I started Loopa – they are available instantly to use so no waiting. They are there if you want that extra bit of help and want to cover all your bases as part of your study.
For students studying the NEW specification I’ve also created a detailed revision video on how to revise for AS and A level and this video is below too. The techniques across both the old psychology specification and the new one are similar albeit with some minor changes but the videos have been made to cater for both sets of students – again if you find this helpful be sure to hit the subscribe button as I’ll be releasing content for your second year of study too!
Revision tips for the new psychology specification AS and A level
The new AQA psychology specification is unfortunately a fair bit harder than the old one…the level of content you are required to learn is quite frankly absurd but it is still very possible to do well. At AS level, as this video explains, you can get essay questions worth up to 12 marks as well as smaller variations ranging from 6, 8 and even 10 markers. The best technique is to practice past papers over and over and we now have a set of AS papers from last year available as well as the specimen papers. You can download them here if you need them!
If you also want some top banding essay notes and model essays for these exams too then I’ve created revision packs on the right here – these are the same ebooks students used last year when this new syllabus was introduced to score within the top band. They are instantly available to download and print and use across your devices and incredibly useful if you are missing detailed notes on some of the topics you will be facing tomorrow as they cover everything you need to know to score full marks. Heres links to both the paper 1 and paper 2 revision packs below, also note they can be used in your second year too as part of your full A level as they cover the A level topics too!
You can also check out my exam predictions here in the latest blog post section. Just scroll down to the ones you need. I have yet to release the linear A level predictions for the second year students doing the full A level for the new specification. This is likely coming next week! I shall also try get the remaining PSYA3 and PSYA4 topics out for the retake students too doing papers 3 and 4 of the old specification.
I’m also aware I’ve had a lot of emails recently and I’m hoping to sit down this evening to go through them! I’m sorry if I havent replied straight away yet but I get up to 20-40 complex queries daily while I work full-time too so they tend to build up by the time I get to the weekend so please bare with me while I reply to them! If you have any questions please mark it clearly in your subject heading and I’ll do my best to reply today too.
