Intelligence and Learning PSYA3 Predictions – June 2016
You requested it and here they are; My intelligence and learning predictions for PSYA3 and the June 2016 exams. First up this topic isn’t one of my strongest topics knowledge wise and I never studied or wrote an ebook on it due to it being generally less popular than the other topics (sorry!) – also the fact that I had little time and many people requesting other topics and with new spec coming in, it just made things really hard to cram it all in. If time permits I shall try make one for next year for retake students as I think there is one more opportunity to sit A2 then – but it may be a stretch in all honesty as my focus will be on the new spec year 2 resources due later this year.
So Intelligence and learning – I don’t have an ebook for it with model essays so you are unfortunately on your own if you are studying it – best of luck!
Also you can find all the other PSYA3 and PSYA4 topics I have covered here under my blog posts by scrolling down and onto the next pages.

I’ve also released my predictions for all the topics I cover which are completely free and you can access them by clicking on the blog>latest blog tab above. As always however learn everything to be safe as these predictions are merely to guide your revision focus, not what you want to completely bank on appearing in the psychology exam definitively.
Intelligence and Learning Predictions June 2016
My predictions for intelligence and learning for PSYA3 and the June 2016 exam are below – first lets take a look at my predictions table to see which are overdue and what has appeared:

You may also need to try clear your cookies and try again if it still doesn’t work.So looking at this we can highlight about 5 that could easily make an appearance with 3 of them being well overdue- let me break them down for us:
- The most overdue question is on classical conditioning and learning in non-human animals. It hasn’t ever appeared as a full essay so you really need to go into the exam prepping this one well. With the specification being phased out and this never having made an appearance – maybe its time to complete the circle and give it a full essay? Or at least an appearance as a smaller question worth 12 marks? My frontrunner.
- My second favourite is Evolutionary factors in human intelligence – It has appeared as a full essay but this was way back in 2011. After that its only been a 12 marker and that was over 4 exam windows ago. This is my second favourite to make an appearance and just as above if its not a full essay, expect a smaller question on it instead.
- Information processing theories – Has only ever been a full essay once and that was over 3 exam windows ago in January 2013. So it makes my cut as my third favourite to prep for going into the PSYA3 exam.
Unfortunately – Genetic factors in intelligence-test performance and Environmental factors in intelligence test performance are equally possible after the above 3 in my eyes. It’s been 2 exam windows since a broad question on them appeared allowing you to write about either – neither has been focused on and although it’s only been 2 exam windows my gut says if they wanted to throw you a curve ball its going to be one of these however it’s impossible for me to say which out of the two as prior they haven’t ever made an appearance on their own.
This leaves only operant conditioning and psychometric theories. If out of the two you wanted me to suggest one to learn better I would say learn operant conditioning. Its only ever appeared as a 12 marker and that was in the last exam window. In theory they shouldn’t ask this again because of this but if AQA wanted to be awkward and repeat a question – this one would be it.
So those are my thoughts and the order in which I would revise my essays – what do you think?
